Telluride House receives around 60 student applications every cycle. Depending on the number of graduating Housemembers and the strength of the candidates, we might offer anywhere from 1 to 8 spots per cycle.
The Housemember application to Telluride House is designed to be challenging but not intimidating. It consists of several essays and an interview, either in person or via telephone or Skype.
Although the essays require at least as much thought and effort as many university admission applications, they do allow candidates to show what they have to offer in their own terms. The house has accepted members as much for their artistic portfolios and scientific research as for their essays and interviews.
Applicants must enroll as full-time University of Michigan students while in the house. We encourage you to contact our Recruitment Committee about House events you would like to attend at t-info@umich.edu.
Applications from current U-M students are considered in the fall; applications from incoming freshmen and transfers are considered in the winter. All selected students join the house in the fall of the following academic year.
The Fall 2011 application cycle (current UM students) for the 2012-13 academic year is now over. Current undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Michigan should apply in the Fall 2012 Application Cycle for the 2013-14 academic year. Incoming and transfer University of Michigan students should apply in the Spring 2012 Application Cycle (due in February 2012).

Fall 2011 (current UM students): 9:00 AM, October 19, 2011
Spring 2011 (freshman/transfer students): 9:00 AM, February 20, 2012
Completed applications (Essays and General Application) must be sent by email to mbta.apply@tellurideassociation.org. Transcripts and recommendation letters should be sent by regular mail or brought to the house in person. Our address is:

Candidates will be notified if they were selected for interviews within 3 weeks of the submission deadline, while final scholarship decisions will be made within 2 weeks of the interview.
